About Salina
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC-AT/S) and Board Certified Registered Art Therapist-Provisional (ATR-BC). I specialize in working with individuals and families experiencing life transitions, chronic pain, and trauma. Often, trauma is part of the pain story. Salina provides art therapy, Internal Family Systems, EMDR, and counseling services to adult men and women.
Chronic health issues affect every aspect of a person’s life. I offer understanding and acceptance to my clients, education and support to their families. I approach health from a Biopsychosocial model, integrating the many areas of life that pain and illness affect, including physical limitations, financial independence, self-image, and personal relationships. I utilize art therapy, Internal Family Systems, and EMDR to help my clients reach their goals.
You are not your anger or your fear. As we grow through childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood, some “parts” of ourselves get stuck in a memory. This happens when we don’t have a safe place to ask questions about what happened. Eventually, these stuck parts become problematic in our lives, mostly because they behave in ways that keep us from letting people too close. Internal Family Systems is a powerful way to help these memories become unstuck and create space for stronger, safer parts of ourself.
What color goes with a feeling? For many people, finding the right words to express what is going on inside can be difficult. Art materials can provide access to the language of color and shape, allowing individuals to find new ways to communicate and more accurately relay their inner world. Art therapy offers many benefits, including increased self-awareness, social skills, the ability to manage behavior, increase self-esteem, and reduce anxiety.
